LOVE this quote from Ali Edwards when I saw it I knew I had to do a post about preserving your memories and just how important it is. I know that a lot of my readers are in fact scrapbookers or you might be participating in Project Life, either way you are preserving your memories. You WILL forget these things in the years to come if you don’t write them down and preserve them. There is absolutely no doubt about that, coming from someone who went back and scrapbooked things like Flynn’s first year with the baby kit I posted last week and even though I had scrapbooked this time because I had not journaled throughout this time enough I have forgotten so much. I will never get that time back now and so I make it a priority of my own to tell our family story.
This will one day be my legacy and how I want my children to remember our family life. I think the important thing to remember is to find what works with you and go with it. There is no right or wrong thing, way, style or amount. Whatever you do is better than doing nothing. I am also a firm believer that what you do does not have to be the same for every child. Ideas change and you just need to go with that. Our second child will not have exactly the same things as Flynn does as I have new ideas now for this new baby but I also had more time with Flynn- it doesn’t really matter as I am preserving our family memories in whatever way that might be some ideas include-
-Keeping a family journal
-Participating in Project Life
-Writing a blog (as a diary)
-Printing your photos and inserting them into a slip in album with the journaling
-Scrapbooking
- Mini albums
In light of some of these ideas I thought I would share a mini book I put together a few weeks ago at a catch up with some girlfriends- It literally took me a few hours to do, very easy. I love that all of our Ultrasound pictures are now together in the one place and also as I have more when I attend my regular OB visits I can add those into the extra pages at the back.

I hope this gives you a few ideas on how you can preserve your own memories in whatever way that might be.

What a great reminder to ‘just do it’. I get so caught up in wanting it to be erect I get a bit overwhelmed and ‘leave it for later’… I am so far behind with my scrapbooking. I need to just do it, afterall it’s not about how good the page looks, its about the memories.
Thanks for the motivation and inspiration to capture those memories!
