When I got back from my trip last week I had a lovely little package awaiting me, my scrapbooking albums for 2010. I generally decide what I am going to use for the year ahead and buy them in November/December but being pregnant and oh so indecisive it took me a little longer than normal to decide what to get. Once I had everything delivered I sorted through all of the albums and getting all of the page protectors into the albums.
I have found over the years that if I have my albums chosen and ready to go it really helps maintain the motivation throughout the year to keep going and continue to be up to date with my scrapbooking so I don’t feel overwhelmed : ).
I have a range of albums which I add to each year that I just add to as the events happen these include-
12×12 Christmas album- each year I add our photos and our families card and letter.
12×12 Birthday Album. For this one I generally complete about 4-6 layouts for the birthday and try to include lots of journalling about what is going on at this age.
8.5×11 Flynn’s Artwork Album- I posted about this album here I still follow this system and so far it is working really well I just add to it when necessary.
8×8 Guest book- this was an idea I got from a magazine where you out together and little book for guest to fill out when they come and stay.
6×6 Easter Album pretty self explanatory I just add the new photos each year.
If you would like an more information/explanation or photos on any of the above albums please let me know. For the yearly albums I normally run with a Family Album 2-3 albums, Flynn’s album 2-3 albums and Project Life/365. This year I will also add the new babies albums into this fold.
Below are the 12×12 albums I completed for last year (not including the above listed ongoing albums) L-R the 2 pink albums and one linen album are our Family albums for 2009. The 3 blue albums are Flynn’s albums for 2009 and the last 2 albums in green is Project 365 for last year.
This is what my little pile is looking like for this year, I am loving the colour range this year. L-R the 2 yellow albums are for the new baby, I am using the Becky Higgins baby kit which you can find here I love this kit as it covers right through from pregnancy to 12 months with lots and lots of journaling prompts and pockets for memorabilia. I will also be doing my own layouts on top of this kit for the baby in separate album as well. If you would like to see what I did with this kit for Flynn leave a comment and I will get some photos uploaded.
The red album is my Project Life, the 2 green albums are the ones I have chosen for our Family albums this year and Flynn’s album is at the end in the blue. For the kids albums I have decided to do the first year year baby kit in the yellow for all of the kids. I do another album for the first year layouts and then I choose a colour in the WR Memory Keepers albums for the rest of the years- Flynn’s are called Country Blue which you can find here for the new baby I think I am going to do the Kiwi green which you can see here . For our family albums though I love choosing a new colour and make of album depending on what is out and new for each year : )

For the new baby I am going to be ordering this Making Memories album in blue for the first year layouts (once they are in stock)

I aspire to be as organised as you Jade!!! I noticed that lots of the sites you get your scrapbooking materials from are in the US. Is postage and handling costly?
What a great idea to buy all your albums before the year starts. How do you store them all?
Thanks Vanessa : ) I get all of my albums from the US as they have the best choice and variety. The shipping is horrendous for albums which is why I have to buy them in bulk. But surprisingly they still work out cheaper that buying from here. They work out at about $60 each with 30 refills if bought from the US for the same album in Aust it is about $70 then the refills are about $25. I try to just buy them once or twice a year to keep the cost down!!
Thanks Melissa, it really helps me stay motivated throughout the year to fill them all !! I just keep them in my scrapbooking room in the low cabinet next to my desk- then I can slot the pages in as I am done. Or I pop them out on display as I feel like it : )
Hope that helps girls. x
Love it! I would love to see Flynn’s baby album using becky’s kit. Could you please provide a link to the page protectors you use as well?
Sure Donna I will take some photos this afternoon : ) With the Becky Higgins kit you get all of the page protectors in the kit (really good $$ value) but I will show you how I used them : )
Also would it be possible to see more of Flynn’s art album? I have a stack of artwork I want to keep, but need some inspiration.
Thanks! I absolutely love reading your blog everyday!
Thanks for that Jade, that does make sense in regard to postage when they would work out be more expensive to buy here anyway. Can I also ask the brand of the pink and linen albums you had for 2009?
I would also love to see Flynn’s baby album!
The pink albums from last year were the Making memories Paperie ones you can find them here- http://store.scrapbook.com/mm-31036.html They are stunning IRL and have embossed flowers on the front, they come in tons of colours as well. The linen album is a WR Memory Keepers albums also see here http://store.scrapbook.com/wermeke3lial.html you can see how many colour choices there are with the linen as well !!
Baby album post to come soon : )
x
What a great idea Jade.!
I really love the Christmas idea one – I am going to get myself organised and start this. Should be easy enough to go back and start it from 3 years ago when Lucas had his first Christmas. Brilliant, thanks!
Ohhh and the Birthday albums too. Would love to see some more of your page layouts and ideas on these.
Off to check out those sites now.
Thanks Jade!!
Jade,
This is my favorite kind of post!! I love getting a peek into other people’s albums and how they organize them. I would love to see the Baby Album using Becky’s kit as well as more of the art album. THanks for all the fantastic ideas and inspiration!!
Hi Jade
I have been loving your blog, and am truly inspired by all you do. One question with regards to your scrapbooking – how on earth do you find time to fit it in? I know I really struggle and am SO far behind! Would love to hear how you do it
Hi Jade, just wondering how long postage to Australia from Scrapbook.com has taken. I’d like to order some supplies myself but don’t want to wait.
Thanks
Hi AJ thank you so much for your kind comments : ) For starters I don’t fit it ALL in LOL the night I scrapbook the washing goes untouched and nothing else gets done !! It is a just a constant juggle. I have gotten into the habit of trying to get to a Friday night crop either at my local scrapbook shop or a catch up with girlfriends, this helps me stay up to date.
Kelly- about a week?
I shouldn’t be surprizing so hard at that.
