I have posted a lot on getting toddlers to eat before but as it is feeding month at Beyond the Baby I thought I would revisit a few ideas on the blog here as we come across new and different “issues” the older Fynn gets. I am not sure about you but one of the most frustrating things for me as a parent is when your child decides out the blue for no reason not to like a food anymore.
Remember these gorgeous strawberries?

Well Flynn promptly decided once they were served up to him that same day that he doesn’t like strawberries anymore !! Argh after buying a kilo of them I wanted them eaten, and I knew without him having them with most meals they would likely go bad and I would have to find something else to make with them.
3 days later and Flynn was still refusing all offers of strawberries and so I decided one morning before Kindy that we would use a bowl of them in some strawberry muffins : ) After cubing them very finely Flynn decided to start eating them – lots and lots of them about 3 snacks cups full. We then finished making our muffins together and I made sure to make some mini ones as well for little hands to hold and devour.

And who looks guilty here : ) Someone ate all of the muffins ….

It was a swift reminder for me to keep food interesting and ever changing as no matter how good the eater all kids are bound to get bored with the same foods. Changing the consistency of some foods sometimes actually does work and that getting them to eat doesn’t always have to be a battle you just sometimes have to think outside the box : )
Getting the kids involved helps endlessly in my opinion and allows them to learn to make healthy choices from an early age. We still do lots and lots of food platters in this house and Flynn is always up in the kitchen with me telling me all the yummy things he wants for lunch like crackers, dips, cheese, yoghurt, fruit etc.
My next feeding post is going to be about what we pack to keep the hungry tummies and boredom at bay whilst we are out and about : )

hahaha love that 2nd photo of Flynn….. My girls were the same loved something one minute, would not touch it the next! Even now at the older ages they still do it.
