The plate rack is just genius. I actually saw something similar (not Ikea) a couple of weeks ago and was thinking of repurposing it for craft (It had drawers at the bottom and a shelf at the top) and I don't think I'm quite so crazy anymore =op

We have a rotating book display too but inside a (Billy? Ikea.) bookcase. The bottom shelves have books in the 'normal' configuration (spines out) plus a magazine holder with colouring books and the top shelves have boardgames and 'special' things that need to be kept safe (porcelain teaset etc). The middle shelf has a small world globe and a book display and I use plate stands to stand the books up. Next to the bookshelf is the noticeboard and also a small table so sometimes we're doing things by theme and then the book display, the items on the table and the artwork/craft items on the noticeboard all tie in. Other times it's random and they don't correlate.

I love these reading nooks - so welcoming. My kids are teenagers now but when they were young, we had a reading nook in an huge unused fireplace full of cushions. They remember it fondly. Now the comfy couch in our front room serves this same purpose. I love nothing better than coming through the door at the end of the day and seeing an empty tea cup and an open book on the coffee table and knowing my kids have settled down after school for a read! By choice! You are helping your boys make that vital link between reading and good times. Thanks for the lovely ideas.

Wow Jade, how pleased you must be with these rooms :)

I am working through my home room by room at the moment and my next big tackle is the playroom. I am also wanting to change the way we store/display our books and will be rotating ours as well. These plate racks have come just at the right time for me...even though an Ikea trip will be some way off, at least I can organise a space for one of these beauties in our area.

LOVE your way of pulling it all together!
