I wanted to share the last of my projects with you today- the thank you notes and also Flynn’s 3rd Birthday invites. With so many birthdays all within a few weeks this is a really busy time of the year for us : )

Phew so happy to have these done : ) They have been keeping me busy at night for the last 5 or so days and I am so pleased they are finished and I can share them and then get them in the post. When we had Flynn 3 years ago I wanted to do a birth announcement to share with our close family and friends but life got busy and I didn’t make it a priority and I still regret not making the effort. This time around I really wanted to find the time to make this happen so last Wednesday whilst Flynn was enjoying some time with Nanna I ran around getting photos developed and choosing papers/ envelopes etc.
The design is quite simple and plain as I had 40 of these to make plus 40 thank you notes whatever I did I had to be able to easy replicate by 40.The front is a 6×4 photo with a 6×2 strip of patterned paper along the bottom of the card. The scallop circle is made by a punch from Stampin’ Up in yellow card and I then printed Olivers full name on white card and punched it out with a plain circle punch.

LOVE this quote from Ali Edwards when I saw it I knew I had to do a post about preserving your memories and just how important it is. I know that a lot of my readers are in fact scrapbookers or you might be participating in Project Life, either way you are preserving your memories. You WILL forget these things in the years to come if you don’t write them down and preserve them. There is absolutely no doubt about that, coming from someone who went back and scrapbooked things like Flynn’s first year with the baby kit I posted last week and even though I had scrapbooked this time because I had not journaled throughout this time enough I have forgotten so much. I will never get that time back now and so I make it a priority of my own to tell our family story.
Warning- really long post ahead !! As per your requests todays post is going to cover off one of the baby albums I completed for Flynn for the first year of his life. This kit was actually launched when Flynn was about 18 months and so I had already scrapbooked his life up until then including pregnancy but when I saw the kit I knew I still had to complete this album. It is such a great over view of this special time and I fell in love with the kit and everything in it- I especially love the abundance of journaling cards you receive to document this time.
An important thing to note in this kit is that EVERYTHING is double sided or you get both a girl and boy version. So although everything you are seeing in my album is boy colours there is also the option of making this kit completely girly. The price this kit sells for is $45 which is fantastic value as you get everything you need to complete 2 albums and I had a lot of stuff left over as well. Here is the link to buy the kit and here is heaps of information by Becky at the time the kit was launched. I bought a few of these and out them away for all of our future babies.
From my post on albums the other day some of you were interested in seeing more of the art album. So just to explain the concept again I am using an 8.5 x 11 WR Memory Keepers Album in Kiwi green. I went and found a very similar cardstock colour match in Spotlight and cut it all down to fit into the page protectors. What I do is when Flynn brings something home from School (daycare), Gymbaroo, the library or does a craft with my mum or myself it goes on the fridge until we are ready to put a new masterpiece up. Once it comes off the fridge I then make the decision then if I am going to keep it or not. If I am going to keep it I simply slip it into the album.
Once I have about 8 pages worth of art in the album I sit down and type out a little title about where Flynn did the art and the approximate month it was completed. I then print these out on a piece of white cardstock and cut them all down to size. I trim all of the artwork down and then adhere the artwork with the title attached at the top. I have a few sheets of a jungle range of stickers I am using for this album which I just dot throughout to add interest in the album. It is quick and easy and I just keep on top of this every few months when I think of it.
The older Flynn gets the more and more he comes out with the funniest things, which I immediately think I must write down so I don’t forget them. Then the idea came to me that I should decorate a little blank notebook to be able to have our in the family room so that I can capture those funny memories and quotes as they happen. When I was at a crop night with some girlfriends the other night I put together this easy little cover page for my notebook and I was so excited at how well the sticker matched what I wanted to say : )

When I got back from my trip last week I had a lovely little package awaiting me, my scrapbooking albums for 2010. I generally decide what I am going to use for the year ahead and buy them in November/December but being pregnant and oh so indecisive it took me a little longer than normal to decide what to get. Once I had everything delivered I sorted through all of the albums and getting all of the page protectors into the albums.
I have found over the years that if I have my albums chosen and ready to go it really helps maintain the motivation throughout the year to keep going and continue to be up to date with my scrapbooking so I don’t feel overwhelmed : ).
I have done a huge clean and tidy in my craft room over the last few weeks and amazingly even through creating lots of bits and pieces it has managed to stay relatively tidy so I thought I would share a few of the things I have changed in this room that has worked for me. I think you could also adapt a lot of these ideas to a home office set up as well.
For starters something I have been doing for about a year now is using a layout/project list to keep track of what layouts I want to complete and need to get photos developed for. That layout list is like my little project bible for all things creative that I make throughout the month. Here is a glimpse of what my list is looking like at the moment, I just keep adding to it until the page is full- I have about 6 stapled together an then I just start a new one.
These are a few recent layouts I have done for my Family and also Flynn’s Scrapbook. This is a page I did on Valentine’s crafts with Flynn, I am using a lot of hidden journaling at the moment so slipped just behind the top photo on the left page I have a cute little page with some words about what we made.

I went to such a sweet Kitchen Tea over the weekend. One of my gorgeous long time girlfriends is getting married and I am so excited for her. It is such a new start in life and an exciting time to be a part of and share with her, I am so looking forward to the wedding next weekend (hopefully my dress still fits !) I just had to share these cupcakes with you, aren’t they just the cutest ? And they were very yummy too : )
