2009 and 2010 Albums

When I got back from my trip last week I had a lovely little package awaiting me, my scrapbooking albums for 2010. I generally decide what I am going to use for the year ahead and buy them in November/December but being pregnant and oh so indecisive it took me a little longer than normal to decide what to get. Once I had everything delivered I sorted through all of the albums and getting all of the page protectors into the albums.

I have found over the years that if I have my albums chosen and ready to go it really helps maintain the motivation throughout the year to keep going and continue to be up to date with my scrapbooking so I don’t feel overwhelmed : ).

Things I love about Albany Post #1

As you already know I went away on a little work trip this week. I wanted to get this trip done before I got too pregnant as it is about 7-8 hours in the car (with lunch stops etc)  and also I really do love it down here in Albany. Between appointments with customers I managed to fit in some sightseeing and capture some of this great town. One of the things I love most about this town is the fabulous wind farm – they generate a lot of the towns electricity from these awesome machines and they really are beautiful to see in real life.

When I find great downloads I love to share them with everyone, so this one is so exception as I think it’s great. It is a designed for a scrapbooker but can be adapted for anyone who loves taking photos. There are 2 lists (have you caught on yet that I LOVE lists !!) one is a list of 10 Can’t miss photo opportunities for each month of the year and the other is a blank photo checklist for you to fill in yourself.

Places we go.

I saw a great layout a few years ago in a magazine entitled “Places we go”. It was an fabulous idea about documenting the regular places you go such as your local park, shopping centre, where you eat out, swim etc.

Getting small people to look at the camera

It’s exhausting!!!!! I will admit to resorting to extreme measures to get Flynn to look at the camera because I was blessed with a child who has been looking away from me and my camera from the time he was about 4 months old, argh!!!!! In the early days it was just toys, bottles, sippy cups, rattles, dummies and funny noises. Now that Flynn is 2 he is way smarter than that and has cottoned on to us and so I am ashamed to admit that I have resorted to bribery and promises to get him just to look at me.

For example last night I was trying to get a bath photo as I do not have a recent one but Flynn would not oblige, and so I resorted to telling him I had lollies. Yes thats right I definitely will not be winning mother of the year for that one !!! But it worked and the poor little poppet kept on looking at me and asking for the promised lollies, in the end I said, “mummy has no lollies left but when you get out of the bath you can have your milk”. Well needless to say he was not too impressed with me and sat down in a huff.

Getting close up.

I have read a few blog posts this week about getting close up when taking photos. I have never really given it a lot of thought before but I do love to get that close up shot with my SLR. That is one of my favourite things about having my new camera.
