I wanted to share with you today the Thank you cards we did for Oliver’s Christening. After all of the work and massive amounts of party planning that went into the day I wanted something super duper easy. I enlisted the help of a girlfriend who knew Photoshop way better than I did to help me- thanks so much Melissa.

Inspired by this birth announcement Becky Higgins had on her website-

We made a few changes and voila.

These cards have changed my life LOL. In the past I would put so much work into thank you cards which was very time consuming after lots of party planning. These were printed a few days after the party and then popped into labelled envelopes one night on the couch : )

Oh and after a few hours and some online tutorials I taught myself how to do the lettering for future cards : )

So I have spoken about the wonderful and talented Ninka from Little Tree Photography before who took Oliver’s newborn shots. I was so thrilled with the result and it was so hard to choose my prints. But I finally made my choices and when I received them a few weeks ago and they were straight up on the wall : )

We absolutely love looking at them and I am so glad we got them done when Oliver was only 3 weeks old as he already changed so much it is incredible.

This one in the front hallway is my absolute favourite and it almost made me cry when I received it in the mail. I love that it is the first thing I see when I get in home and the last when I leave.

*Note- A few of you asked my handbag in a previous post where I showed this front table and it is an Oroton, you can find their website HERE. They are great quality bags and last for years and years, well worth the investment : )

There is a lot of this going on at the moment, here are a few of my recent POTD (Picture of the day)

This little guy is getting to that clingy stage- the you cannot put me down stage. And if you do I am going to scream….especially if I cannot see my mummy. And yes I know I am the meanest mother in the world taking a photo of my baby crying but you know what, it is real life. That is part of our day sometimes and part of project life for is about captures the real life, the everyday stuff both the good and the bad.

There was a mini challenge on the Becky Higgins blog the other day about putting you camera down on a surface- your kitchen table etc and capturing your everyday life. I always like a good photo challenge I think it is great to stretch our angle and sometimes you can get some great shots.

Here is Becky’s example and the link to the post for the challenge is HERE

And so I did out kitchen bench- where a lot of the life and planning happens in our home and then I did my messy scrapbooking table- both photos were ok and then I decided to do our bed on a Saturday morning. And the last one was the one I loved the most.

It is one I would not have gotten had I not decided to do the challenge and look at the angle in which I take my photos a little differently.

I did a challenge last year that was about looking down and every since I try to occasionally catch a shot from that angle. Like this one yesterday of Flynn eating his breakfast on the go- waiting to be strapped into his car seat. We were off to the Guildford craft markets and this was his travelling breakfast.

So I pass the challenge on to those of you doing Project Life as well to look for a different angle- try something new and you will get some new and different photos that you are bound to love.

I am one of those people who absolutely love newborn babies. I love everything about them, the cuddles, endless photo opportunities, the late night feeds, their utter dependence on you. I just love all of it. But the cruelty of it all is that it goes way too fast. I already feel like in the blink of any eye that newborn stage is slipping away from me already.

At his paediatrician check up last week Oliver was deemed and healthy baby boy and now weighs 5.2 kgs so he is feeding great- which is always such a relief to hear.

At a mere 9 weeks old he has already changed my life beyond what I ever imagined and most definitely bought me into a happy and beautiful place in my life. Those first hard weeks are behind us and this little champion has been sleeping through the night now for almost 2 weeks : ) With the extra sleep I am feeling human again and feel my capacity to function get better and better every single day. Yay for baby bootcamp !!

One of the things I love most about having a newborn baby is watching other people love him. Watching the grown men (and women) within our group of friends all goo and gaa over Oliver whilst fighting for the next hold is simply too sweet for words.

Now that he is older he is starting to take a few feeds a week of expressed milk all of the boys love to feed him whenever the opportunity arises and Oliver is wonderful and taking milk from anyone which is a great help sometimes.

And now I am going to go an enjoy my babies whilst they still need me and want cuddles and milk and stories. Make sure you enjoy your precious children this weekend and remember that there is no greater gift than becoming a parent.

On another note there is something wrong with the comments system at the moment and posts will show as having no comments or maybe one- you have to actually click on the post title to see all of the comments but the front page will still be showing as zero comments.

So just click on the title and you will be able to see them all : ) Note- if you click on the comments word at the bottom of the post you will also not be able to see them all you must click on the post title. I read all of the comments- unless its a really old post and then I often miss them and I always try to answer questions and provide links to products etc in them so have a look : )

On another note there are some exciting things the wonderful owner of Beyond the baby and I are working on together for the blog including a printables page, favourites page, where to buy, daily organisation tips and much much more so expect some new things on the blog very soon !

I always struggled to get Flynn to smile for the camera. Right from the very start he just did not want to have it !! I am so enjoying the abundance of smiles that this little love bug is happy to dish out on a regular occasion and even better if I am able to catch them on camera.

I am so looking forward to starting little Olivers scrapbook which is happening this weekend- that pile of 300 photos has grown by another few hundred and so I need to start : )

I thought I would share a quick tip for getting cute backgrounds onto your photos while your babies are little. I use a low ottoman for this if I am outside or just straight onto a rug on the floor if I am inside. Firstly I find some great light in the house- I full length window or door is best – or even outside like we were here.

Then I use either a nice blanket, piece of fabric or even paper to get a cute backdrop behind the babies head and shoot away. This way I get a variety of backgrounds instead of just the couch etc and I don’t have all the house mess in the background to distract from the gorgeous baby.

I have in the past done a few posts on photo organisation but now that we have 2 little boys to take millions of photos of I have had to come up with a new system to keep organised. As I scrapbook most of our photos this Creative Memories Power sort box hold mostly old photos from our childhoood and travels pre children. Although I have scrapbooked both our childhoods and travels we still have a lot left over. The current photos it holds will mostly be scrapbooked and so I will just go through every 6 months or so and updated the labelled tabs as they become empty.

So this is the Creative Memories power sort box I am using-

I love these boxes as they are super sturdy and last for years and years. Each box comes with lots of smaller divided boxes and white dividers as well , see below-

I have separated each box in themes such as family, childhood and Flynn and Oliver have their own boxes.

Above is an example of what Flynn’s divided box looks like at the moment. I will scrapbook most of this 2010 photos and so he will just be left with a small leftovers sections as he has done for 2008/2009. Over the weekend I managed to scrapbook all of Flynn’s April/May /June photos which was great.

Ahh loving that great view looking down : ) I am so happy this is done and that all of my photos are now in just one place. You can find the photo box HERE
The box holds up to 2400 photos and can store up to 5×7 print size photos.

Hopes that helps those that have asked about a system for photos : )
