Here is a little idea for next year for a sweet neighbour treat. It is nice to include and involve your street in activities like this as it is a great way to get the spirit of any holiday happening with local people you know.

I just did some simple chocolates with a cute halloween cut out. You could use any chocolate and scrapbooking paper for this kind of yummy treat. Making something special out of something seemingly ordinary from the supermarket is one of my favourite things : ) It is cheap and easy and generally just involves a little time.

And to package them up, a cute little spotty bag with a matching Halloween tag, found on the Eighteen 25 blog. If you want as many of your nearby family and friends to participate try using a template like the below called a Boo Flyer. The idea being that you drop your sweets at the door and request you neighbour do the same to 2 other neighbours- and so the cycle continues.

Flynn decided that as we were potato stamping last weekend that he wanted to do some fun bags for his friends so here is a look at what we made.

The bags we used were orange paper lolly bags from Spotlight, they are just a few dollars and come in a pack of 12. I carved out the pumpkin myself into a potato and we used white paint to stamp the bags, Flynn had a great time he loves potato stamping

For the inside of the bags we did a few things. Firstly I downloaded these free cute jokes from the Alison Waken blog.

I then cut these up and each child had one in their lolly bag. Free and easy, perfect : )

We also used these cute little bags I found for a bargain $2.00 for 15 at Woolworths for our witches hat cookies featured on yesterdays post.

The kids also had a Haloween banana and cinnamon muffin to munch on.

And thats all. Just a few little treats and Flynn LOVED handing them out to all of his friends at Kindy. *Note- I asked the teacher last week first before I embarked on this and also checked for any allergies within the class, it is always worth asking.

For today I just wanted to show you a few other small bits and pieces we did around the house this past few weeks for Halloween.

Just to make our home Trick or Treat friendly we had a cute little witch on the front door, again from the Avon catalogue.

This was the little display I had on the family room table.

The Candy corn is from USA Foods someone might have gotten into the candy for a few days before I got a chance to take this photo ; )

The funky napkins are from Pink Frosting .

For a little treat we decided to make witches hat chocolate cookies-

To do these I just used our regular basic cookie recipe and added some cocoa. Once the cookies were about 50% cooked I removed them from the oven and added a large Hershey’s kisses chocolate. They kept their shape really well to create out witches hat look. *Note to self next time I need to use a little less cookie dough to make smaller hats.

We used these cookies in our little Kindy lolly bags which will feature tomorrow.

We decided to do a little decorating on our front table for Halloween this year and it was super fun : ) I am going to start to do this for each special holiday – Valentines, Halloween and Christmas. I have already started to think about the next one, they are lots of fun to put together.

This is a look at the overall table.

A closer look at the right hand side of the table.

Stocklists-

The Black Chandelier is from Pink Frosting and they are now on sale for just $7.50 good buy for next year.

The orange hanging pumpkin was bought from Spotlight next year, I wish I have nought a few more of these as I cannot seem to find them now.

The cute sign, eat drink and be scary was a free download and you can find it at the Craftily Ever After blog. I just backed it in a some scrapbook paper but you could frame it as well : )

The left hand side of the table.

Stocklists-

The large pumpkin was from Woolworths. They were $26 leading up to Halloween but then on Friday they reduced all of them to $10- bargain : ) Glad I waited.

The Spooky Candelabra is also from Pink Frosting and is $12.50 on the site.

The green bat bowl was from my local newsagents for a few dollars and the individually wrapped spooky teeth were from Big W.

The little ghost bag was ordered from an Avon cataoluge.

There you go that’s our fun spooky front table : )

Better late than never, you can re visit this for all of your ideas next year : ) Remember you can always click on the tabs on the right hand side eg Halloween or Christmas for ideas whenever you like.

I didn’t post anything we did for Halloween this year and there was a very well thought out reason for that. Halloween seems to be one of those holidays whereby a lot of people have a lot of resentment for it being “American”. If you look into this age old tradition a little you will find it is actually not the case- but that is for you to do your own research. My husband grew up in the Middle East where this fun day was huge and so this was a tradition that was important for him to continue with our own children.

I respect that a lot of people do not understand/ participate in Halloween but that is no excuse to speak out at those who choose to participate. I will say now that the new few days will be all about this fun day for our family due to many requests via comments and email, and if you don’t like it you are more than welcome to click on the little x or quietly shake your head at me and read another blog who might share in your same views, there is no need to comment and let us all know. Leave the rest of the girls who come here to get a crafty idea or two to enjoy the photos and maybe get some ideas of their own.

For our family it is something new and fun and crafty to participate in and I am all about it : ) To start simple this was our special Sunday morning spooky breakfast.

Pumpkin Face Pancakes-

So Flynn still loves to cook. The cheap little wooden stool for the kitchen from IKEA has been such a great investment and we have a little boy who loves to be involved in the food process and really enjoys it (junior master chef here we come LOL).

I now have 2 little helpers in the kitchen just to make the process take that much longer ; )

And the finished product. Ok so not the best pumpkin face out there but Flynn had fun and ate all his breakfast= success.

To make the pancakes orange I used a powdered food colouring that you can just get from the baking section at Spotlight. Next time I will most likely do pikelets and serve them cold and use a piping bag to get a better punkin face : )
