We are on holidays at the moment so not having to get up in the morning and go to work makes for a MUCH more relaxed morning. Now I can just put together our “actiwity” as Flynn calls it during the day on our little trays. Then when we are ready, Oliver is napping etc we can get started.

Here are just a few we have done in the last few days at home.

A simple cookie decorating station. I just used what we had a home cookies, sprinkles and icing. Simple, easy and relatively mess free and this kept Flynn happy for nearly an hour. He had a great time.

And another simple craft, easter egg cards, come glitter glue and special easter sequins. The little trays are great for keeping all of the suplies and mess corralled together- perfect.

Daddy might just even join in and get his craft on as well ; )

Ingredients-

125g butter chopped at room temp
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1 tp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups plain flour
1/4 cup self raising flour
1/2 tp bicarb soda
100g packet of choc chips/ smarties or M&Ms’s

You also need a packet of Milkyway, Malteser or kinder eggs.
Method-

Cream butter and sugars together in an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
Sift in flour and bicarb soda and fold to combine add your chocolate chips and combine.
Then you need to roll into a ball and stick your easter egg into the centre- cover the egg with the cookie dough and form a round ball.

Teaspoon mixture onto a baking tray and bake for 12 minutes in a moderate oven.
They are suer yummy warm straight out of the oven as the egg is lovely and gooey.

They went super quick in our house : )

The Easter bunny left the boys some specials treats, and that messy bunny even left some footprints….

This year I decided to hide next to the couch and capture the look on Flynn’s face when he saw the Easter bunny had been ; ) I went and got him in the morning when he called and then he went to grab daddy to find the Easter stash- during this minute I ran into the family room and waited…

It was well worth it. The look on Flynn’s face= priceless.

The little boys enjoyed the thrill of opening all of their presents.

And we even managed to get a photo of the two little boys with their sweet ears on. Miracle I know and trust me this took a LOT of photos and bribery and toys waved behind my head to get a few good ones ; )

Some little chickens- again incorporating the little ones handprints which I just love, love, love. I am not quite sure why but there is something about the shape of the little hands and feet of my boys which makes me smile every time I walk past them on the wall.

I started with the fabulous download from the Little delightful blog HERE. I printed this on cardstock and cut them both out before I started. Flynn agreed to paint the “fluff” on Oliver’s chicken as he is a bit little for painting.

Then I cut out a little beak from orange felt and we added some googly eyes.

I added Flynn’s to the wall and smiled : ) Thank again to Bianca for such a great craft for the little ones we had such a great time with this sweet chicken.

Clock stocklist- Freedom : )

I simply traced around one of our easter egg plates and then we glued the paper and started added some buttons.

We kept on adding and adding until it was completely covered and my job was to fill in all of the little spots. Once it was complete I cut it out and adhered it to a piece of scrapbooking paper and it now takes pride of place on the fridge.

Simple easy and free : ) We had such a great time and this kept Flynn happy and entertained for about 30 minutes. A great Sunday activity.

The fridge in the standard place for us for the mountain of stuff coming home from school , but with this little craft we did the other day I wanted to display it somewhere special- I am a sucker for anything with a handprint on.

Firstly this is a simple fingerprint bunny craft I saw on a website somewhere and had to do with my little ones.

What you will need-

White Card
Ink pads (I just used what I had at home)
Black artline pen
Baby wipes (for inky fingers)

Before some instructions a side note. Craft can be hard to fit in and think about and plan. As a full time working mum I totally hear you on this one, for me this is an important part if our day and so to fit it in I plan for it. Coming back to using my internet time wisely I research my craft the night before online, decide what we are going to do or make, print off anything I might need and then I get all the things I need and lay them out on my scrapbooking desk.

If I am doing a craft like this one today I will also do a quick practice as well. This means when I get home from work we can just sit down and get started I don’t have to waste 30 minutes flapping around trying to decide what to do and then finding what we need. This means our time after work is more quality and craft is a lot less stressed as well.

Doing a mock up of this craft the night before helped with explaining to Flynn what we were going to make. Then he got started.

Once you have finished lay them all out the dry and then add your little bunny faces. We did Oliver’s thumb print as well and although he wasn’t too keen at the start he ended up laughing as it was ticklish I think : )

Once all of the bunnies were complete when the babies were in bed that night I sat at cut them all out with little scissors- leaving a small white border around the edge.

The next day I set to work turning these bunnies into an Easter print. I collected a frame and some mounting tape.

Then I used some scrapbooking paper I had in my stash I cut it down to size and taped to the white frame. This cute turquoise frame is from Typo (loving that store)

Once the frame was ready to go I laid out all of the bunnies and I played around moving them about the inside of the frame until I was happy with all of their placements. Then one at a time I mounted them with tape and adhered to the scrapbooking paper.

And in no time at all you have our Easter Art.

A closer look.

Like I said earlier I am a complete sucker for anything with my children’s hand/finger print on so I really heart this : ) It now takes pride of place on our front buffet.

Firstly free downloads. My oh my there are oh SO many great crafts resources out there online for you to enjoy and use just google Easter colouring and you will have more than your could ever use. I just printed out this little easter egg sheet and we coloured in each egg.

Fun and easy.

Now this here is the best $2 I have ever spent. Pre cut easter paper chains- genius I tell you. They even have a little sticky on the end – perfect. I helped Flynn do a couple then just let him go and he just LOVED it and was most upset when he had to stop for dinner. This one was an absolute winner and we will be finishing this over the next few days at home.

And then cheap activity books. This was a Woolworth purchase made whilst doing the shopping and I just love it. There are so many great ideas, colouring in activities, cut outs etc. I am thrilled this will keep us going for a few years.

Doing the find the easter egg work sheet, with much concerntration and we “had” to use the easter pencil ; )

There you have three easy, 30 minute, cheap and mess free craft activities for the kiddies : ) Go forth and craft.

Now just for a quick word I why I start this at home so very early. A month out from every holiday (minus Christmas this starts a lot earlier) is when I usually try to start thing, planning, prepping and decorating in readiness. Why? Well the earlier you start the more organised you are, the more ideas you have, the less stressed you feel and the easier it is to find what you are looking for at the shops and the better it is on the budget.

There are lots and lots of reasons to consider starting to plan your holiday when the stuff hits the shelves at the shops. Most people complain about how early easter eggs appear in Coles. Me? I LOVE it. As I can start buying, planning and baking now, every weekend we can do a new fun craft/ activity and not be trying to cram it all into the 4 day break.

And so today I bring you our decorated abode for Easter and if you think this is early yo might cringe well I tell you it has been up for about 2 weeks HA!

The first thing I did was to hang this sweetHappy Easter fabric bunting in my kitchen, I really do heart this.

And a few other small touches to the kitchen counter too. I decorate the kitchen as it really is the heart of the home and we spend a lot of time in her. Children congregate eating at the breakfast bar, adults around the island chatting and having coffee. So we decorate in here and feel the festivity.

I am feeling an urge to cover this topiary in eggs and paint the pot ; )

Then to the sitting room we go. A small chick pillow on a super large and comfy chair.

And the coffee table, a usual place for a revamp.

We have our usual Easter basket on the coffee table as well.

The family table has some candy love. Yes these get eaten, mainly by Simon who has taken a liking to the carrots ; ) I had a great question about easter candy the other day, what do we do with it afterwards? Well we pop it away where we can for the following year or we package it up and give it away to friends and family.

Then to the smaller coffee table.

And although it is not quite finished this is our front table in progress at the moment- I am going to be adding some paper chains Flynn is in the middle of making and sweet easter bunny black board soon- when they arrive.
