We are heading off on a much needed child free weekend break today : ) With some good friends, a beautiful house in the woods, no children and nice winery lunches it is sure to be a great getaway. Although I love my busy life of working, cooking, cleaning and wiping the snotty nose of my devine child we all need and deserve a break once in awhile.
And for the sake of just in case, and being organised we are taking some hospital essentials ; ) I will cross my legs extra tight though !!
I saw this little gem of an idea before I had Flynn 3 years ago and it worked so well I want to do it again for this baby, a feeding caddy. If this next baby is anything like Flynn the standard feed time for the first 6 or so weeks is around an hour. Thats a long time to just sit…
Anyway I read somewhere the idea of setting up a little caddy for when you are feeding to have everything close at hand (until you master that art of being able to get up and walk around etc). In mine I have a water bottle, breast pads, muesli bars (I always get hungry when I am feeding), burp cloth and journal for jotting down feeding times etc. There is also room to pop in the phone/ a book or anything else I fancy at the time.
We had such a great long weekend. It was that fabulous mix between spring cleaning and doing nothing and I am so happy that my to do list is complete and I have a few weeks to relax before this baby arrives !
Between sleepovers and birthday parties
I had forgotten how teeny tiny baby clothes are after 3 years and as I started to wash, iron and pack them all away I was trying to also think of how to best store them neatly in the drawers. When I went to Ikea last week I got a few packets of these great drawer organisers and they work perfectly- they come in a pack of 5 for about $15 so great value and when not in use they fold flat which is great.
So part of my spring cleaning over the weekend was to go through all of both the boys clothes and sort and re organise them all. I am so glad this job is done as it seems never ending changing kids clothes around for the correct seasons and sizing.
Someone asked me the other day if I was scared about going through labour again. It really made me think as I have never had a fear of labour and all that it entails in the process.
I will never go into the birthing process with any pre conceived ideas or with a birth plan. Although I am a planner through and through I have always believed that although you can have a rough idea of what you would like to happen within that time frame it is somewhat out of your control. In my mind I wanted a natural birth but other than that I was just happy to end up with a healthy baby boy at the end of the process.
Finishing this room off has been a joy : ) I love decorating that is no secret, sourcing all the little bits and pieces that make any room special is one of my favourite things. As a child we always had beautiful bedrooms loving decorated by my mother and I wanted to instill that sense of haven and space onto my children as well. Looking after your things well and respecting that space in which you live has always been an important value for me and now to my own family.
And so we have Flynn’s toddler space-
I love small projects. As great as doing an entire room is sometimes all you might have the time or energy for is something small. I still find a sense of satisfaction in this especially if it something I have been wanting to do for awhile : ) We have a huge coffee table in our family room and although it is great for storage it also tends to looks messy quickly on the shelf under the table top. See the below photo-

You girls are so lucky I am pregnant and I wake up at about 4am and can’t get back to sleep as it means you can find out the winner early- no suspense : )

Oh so much of this is happening right now. I am SO tired and really feeling the last few weeks of pregnancy. I still have a to do list a mile long, not enough time and energy, a toddler testing my patience and a few new stretch marks to consolidate the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I cannot get enough sleep and by Monday afternoon I need another weekend !! At the same time with all that is challenging about the last weeks of any pregnancy I am also trying to enjoy every last little movement, roll, flutter and kick as I know I will miss this feeling all too soon.
So we are a few weeks into this months challenge and I thought I should do a check in on how everyone is going and post some additional tips/links and photos for you to help motivate you along if you have not started or have lost interest!! Thank you to everyone who sent through emails/photos and blog links of what you have done please keep them coming as they are great for me to be able to share with everyone- my email address is jade@lovelyliving.com.au just as a reminder.
For starters here are a few places that sell Car seat organisers (just as a hint if you want to google search US sites use a z in organisers instead of the s and you will get a lot more results)
