2 Babies

So 7 months on and I am still alive. I survived the newborn stage, the children are alive and happy, fed, clothed (most of the time), the house is semi neat, I am back at work, I get dressed (most days) and above all else I am insanely happy.

Our Christmas Eve

Such a very special day of the year. We spend ours baking, laughing, doing Christmas crafts, playing games and getting ready for Santa. I also lost count of how many times I said “You need to do xyz because Santa is watching still” LOL.

And we were ready, very very early I might add. We were all ready for Santa and the reindeer at oh just after lunch. The fact that Flynn just started to “get” Christmas and santa and Jesus and all that this wonderful time of year entails this year.

Christmas card organisation

So you probably still have mantle full of cards if you are anything like me : ) And we love them all. We keep them up on the shelf at home as long as possible and then take them all down early January.

I urge you to find an organisational system that works for you with your cards and implement this in your home so that you can look over and cherish your friends and families lovely photos in the years to come.

Why I write

Oh I love you dearest readers, I really do. I literally cried reading through all of your sweet, amazing, awe inspiring an uplifting comments in my last post. I have so missed sharing my life with you over these last few days. After 2 years this little space – with you has become part of my daily routine, part of my sanity and  a little piece of sanctuary in a needless to say chaotic daily life. It is like therapy for me. I tell you about the good, the fabulous, the mess, the sickness and everything in between.

I took a break to look at where I wanted this little blog to go as I doubted myself. Was this blog good enough, was I making the right choices for my children, should I share their lives on the web, am I enough? Lots and lots of things. Something you might not know about me even if you have been reading this blog for the full 2 years is that I am a super sensitive little soul. It doesn’t take much to upset this little poppet especially when it comes to raising my children.

Merry Christmas

Dearest Readers,

It has been an amazing ride this past year. Reading your sweet comments and those who individually take the time to email me and say thank you or send through photos etc of what you have done through gathering ideas off the blog has been one of the best parts of writing this blog.

I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years with your family. I hope that I have helped to make this time of year just a little bit brighter for you.

Mothers group Christmas party

I was lucky enough to host the Mothers group Christmas party this year : ) It was so sweet to see all of the kids together and to see them handing out all of their little presents and eating yummy food etc.

Before everyone got here I set up all of my food and goodies as a lovely party table to have it all together to photograph.

That little car with a caravan

I love that you guys get so excited about the same things I do : ) Things that make our little guys smile and happy and that they will play with endlessly. Most boys seem to love small cars and absolutely flip if they have a trailer of any kind.

So after a little googling etc for you I found it online (YAY for that). It is cheap, like $10 and I am sure will be much loved. The worst part is that I have seen SO many more little Siku cars and trailers on this site now… oh dear !!

Toys

I have touched a little on our new philosophy on trying to keep toys simple, fun, educational and very importantly helpful to building imagination. Loosing the batteries and the plastic fantastic can be the most liberating experience and we have personally watched Flynn flourish. I shudder to think how many children will grow up knowing a computer and an Ipad but not a crayon. Messy as it can sometimes be this play is SO important to us, so we make it a priority. Getting back to basics, drawing, building things with wood (the boys made a billy cart the other day, so sweet), baking, riding bikes and collecting bugs.

What is more simple that a simple roll of butchers paper and some crayons? This was a fab little activity and Flynn had a ball, it literally kept him entertained for HOURS. The novelty of the large roll of paper and it being on the floor was almost too much : )
